Solipsism is a philosophical idea suggesting that only one's own mind is sure to exist. It claims that knowledge of anything outside one's own mind—including the external world and other people—is uncertain and cannot be proven.

ឯកត្តទិដ្ឋិ (Ekatta-ditthi): This is the Khmer term for Solipsism. It is a compound of ឯកត្ត (Ekatta) meaning "individual/singular" and ទិដ្ឋិ (Ditthi) meaning "view" or "theory."
ទស្សនវិជ្ជា (Tossana-vichea): "Philosophy." (Tossana = vision/view; Vichea = knowledge/science).
ចិត្ត (Chett): "Mind" or "Consciousness."
ប្រាកដ (Prakod): "Sure" or "Certain."
មិនច្បាស់លាស់ (Mun chbas-loas): "Uncertain."
មិនអាចបញ្ជាក់បាន (Mun arch ban-cheak ban): "Cannot be proven." បញ្ជាក់ (Ban-cheak) means to confirm or prove.
According to this view, the external world and other minds might not exist independently. Instead, they could be just products of the individual's consciousness, similar to characters or objects in a dream that disappear when the dreamer wakes up.

This concept highlights the limits of human knowledge. Since we can only experience the world through our own senses and thoughts, we can never truly bridge the gap between our internal perceptions and an objective reality.

ការយល់ឃើញ (Kar-yol-kernh): "Perceptions." Literally "the act of understanding-seeing."

A "solipsist society" is a fundamental contradiction in terms. It describes a hypothetical gathering where every single member is absolutely convinced that they are the only conscious being in existence, and that everyone else is merely a sophisticated hallucination.

The humor lies in the social dynamics of such a group. Imagine a crowded room where everyone looks at each other with pity, thinking, "It is a shame that these poor people around me don't actually exist and are just puppets of my own imagination."

Ultimately, a solipsist society is absurd because any conflict or conversation becomes a monologue. If two solipsists argue, they are effectively shouting at their own shadows, creating a lonely masterpiece of nonsense where the "other" is both a participant and a figment of the imagination.
